Decaying stone

A photo of an old limestone monument, taken in closeup to expose the weathering and decay of almost 400 years. The pitting and powdering of the surface, has started to round off the originally sharp, chiselled definiton.

This is the gateway to the Mayflower Steps on Plymouth's Barbican, from where the Pilgrim Fathers set off for their new life in America.
