Bare, stark, base geometry, stacked and startled by the open space and overwhelmed by the blue heaviness of open skies.

The geometry of the light and shadow on the pillar, the slight decay in the concrete, the texture of the paint and the lichens just starting to make their presence felt, the lamp leaning slightly back, the bright blue expanse of the sky; all these characteristics give an almost human metaphor to the picture.
